FLITE (First-generation, Low-income students in Technology and Engineering) is a student organization that provides catered support, opportunities and development for First-generation, Low-income (FGLI) students at Penn passionate about technology and engineering to ensure success for a population with unique needs.
We aim to cater to all engineering in technology fields for FGLI students of all majors and related disciplines including computer science and electrical engineering, chemical and biomolecular engineering, physics, material science, etc.
We will focus on providing a variety of professional and academic resources to share with other students, as well as partner with companies year round to provide career opportunities in technology and engineering. We aim to provide academic, professional, and general guidance for incoming students through our mentorship program that pairs upperclassmen with freshmen.
We plan to partner with a variety organizations from technology companies to community non-profits to provide a wide-degree of academic and professional resources.
We hope to develop our students through interdisciplinary collaboration to create leading engineers that will create innovative solutions to a variety of society's problems.
